Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Her Excellency Dr. Pich Chanmony presided over the grand official inauguration ceremony and ribbon-cutting of the Techo International Airport (TIA), located in Prek Sleng Commune, Kandal Stueng District, Kandal Province, with a part extending into Bati District, covering a vast area of over 2,600 hectares.
It is worth recalling that the airport officially commenced operations on September 9, 2025. More than just an airport, it stands as a symbol of national pride, a testament to Cambodia’s economic growth, and a masterpiece of architecture and construction built entirely by Cambodians.
Techo International Airport is a large-scale 4F-class airport, capable of accommodating long-haul intercontinental flights and handling superjumbo aircraft such as the Airbus A380-800 and Boeing 747-800, with a runway stretching 4 kilometers in length.
According to assessments by the Civil Aviation Authority, TIA has been ranked 9th globally among 4F-type airports. Moreover, it has been recognized as one of the world’s 11 most influential architectural landmarks of 2025.
Under the development plan, Techo International Airport is being built in three phases:
-
Phase 1 features a 4-kilometer runway and a passenger capacity of over 15 million annually by 2025.
-
Phase 2 will add a second runway, increasing capacity to 30 million passengers by 2030.
-
Phase 3 will further expand the airport with a third runway, allowing it to handle up to 45 million passengers by 2050.
